Meditation: Meta-Emotions

✨How do you feel about your feelings? The way we feel and think about our feelings/emotions are called meta-emotions. "Meta" means referring to itself (self or my) hence meta-emotions are "my" emotions about my emotions, feelings of my feelings. ❤️

There are 4️⃣ classifications for these which we'll get into over the upcoming weeks. Today, let's focus on "negative-positive" meta-emotions (e.g. guilt for feeling happy). It can be thought of as feeling sad but pretending to be happy, which is toxic positivity. It's toxic because it dishonors the truth.

🗣️ How do you express your emotions internally and externally? Your initiation response to that question is a snapshot of your history. We are creatures of habit. We think the same thoughts and feel the same way repeatedly. Are you the type of person to push down negative feelings or do you honor, sit with, and acknowledge them? It’s imperative to have a healthy relationship with our emotions. It can be detrimental to one's mental and physical health if we don't cultivate a healthy relationship with emotions. How do we do this? There's a multitude of ways, for today, let's focus on two.

🙏 Trust. It's innate in you to honor all of yourself. Your soul knows the way. Meditation helps your mind rediscover the way. As the Mandalorian says, this is the way.

🌱 Evolve. Is your attachment to who you think you are stifling your growth? Is your personality sabotaging things? Make room for growth by doing new things. Have you heard if you keep doing what you've always done you'll keep getting what you always got? Surprise 🎉 yourself by doing something out of character today.
